Vibrations can pass up into a building from below. This can be from trains, cars and other facilities to name a few. This vibrations can be transferred up into the building causing issues. This can be reduced by increasing the slab and structure size connecting the building to below, increasing the cost to the build
Increasing of the structure is not the only way to decrease vibrations. The vibrations can be absorbed through the base of the building before entering the building.
This can be done by placing an isolator between the building and below. The isolator can then absorb the vibrations, reducing the vibrations passing up into the building.
Each building can be reviewed to decided what isolator can be used. The information that will be required to decide the isolator will be:
Vibradyn is a acoustic matt made of High-tech PUR elastomers. Vibradyn come in variety of densities to cover different weight of buildings, a range of frequencies and surface area of the matt
Depending on building height and function the weight of the building will increase. The matt will be compressed by the building weight and the percentage of compression can change the frequency and amount of reduction of vibrations.
The frequencies that the building is under will set the range of frequencies that the isolators will need to reduce. This range will be set to suit the building and the vibration the designer is wanting to reduce.
The surface area of the Matt that is under load is an important factor. Firstly the load needs to compress the matt. A matt works best when compressed but not compressed too much. So the load on the matt needs to be matched to a density of matt so that the right matt is selected.
